There are lots and lots of things that need to be considered before publishing your next blog post to rank high in search engines, but here in this post I’m gonna share the top 8 of those things that must be considered.

1. Make your post easy scannable:
Scannable content is nothing but proper utilization of short paragraphs, subheadings, headlines, and bullet lists.
It makes your site much easier to read and understand only if these points are included in your article.
It shows your professionalism in that field and also readers always love to read scannable content, so always try your best to write scannable content and also work to improve your writing skills.
2. Optimize Catchy Titles:
Yeah, I’ve talked a lot about attention grabby headlines before. If your title is not attractive or interesting enough, people will not click on it no matter how interesting and well written your article is.
We can expect two kinds of responses from the people who read our article titles:
– Oh great, it looks interesting. I want to know more. Let’s give it a try.
– Ahhh , boring. I know this thing.
Catchy blog titles are a must if you want to attract more and more potential readers.
Follow the below-mentioned tips while creating or optimizing catchy blog titles:
- Should not be too long or too short
- Shout not be more than 7-8 words and not less than 4 words
- Must use a maximum of 69 characters as Google displays only 69 characters in SERP.
- Try to use “How to”, “Topmost” and “Top 10” etc to grab people’s attention.
Don’t make fool of yourself by adding too many fonts, too many font sizes, and too many colors.
It can easily be understood by your readers that you are not a professional blogger and hence they may quit reading your article. So always try your best to impress your readers and encourage them to stay and read more.
3. Blog post length:
Generally, people don’t like to spend much time reading long and lengthy articles. They want you to come to the topic directly and finish it in just 400 to 500 words.
There are some people who believe that we can exceed 600 words and on this topic, I would like to say “YES”. You can exceed our blog post length (i.e.; more than 600 words), but only if it is interesting enough and If you’re able enough to encourage readers to read the whole post.
4. Target proper keywords:
I know selecting or choosing proper keywords for your blog post is a tough part which includes long-tail keywords, keyword density, keyword phrases, general keywords, competition, etc.
Where ever you add your keywords, just assign it with bold or Italic to highlight.
Targeting proper keywords is the toughest part for me while writing an article. It drives me crazy. Well try your best to add targeted keywords in:
- Post URL
- ALT tags
- Content body
- Meta Description
- Post Title
- Headings or Subheadings
- Meta Keywords section
- Categories and Tags
5. Interlink to older posts:
It is MUST to have If you want to rank higher in search engines.
Interlinking new posts to the older one which is relevant to each other is and was always a good strategy followed by many professional bloggers to rank higher in search engines.
But remember, you’ve to do interlinking smartly and limit it.
Inbound links are nothing but one of the ways to reduce bounce rate, increases the number of page views, increases engagement, and improves the Google page rank and Alexa rank of your blog too.
6. Focus on outbound links:
Many people think that outbound link helps in SEO but believe me it’s not at all like that. It does not matter how many links you are connected with.
All it matters is the quality of the link. Always try to link to a website that provides good quality of information and which is relevant to the post.
However try to avoid linking to the irrelevant domains having a different niche, inactive websites, banned websites, and fake information websites. It helps you in ranking better.
The best thing about the outbound link is that it encourages link-backs from webmasters. This increases your quality reciprocal links and therefore it increases your blog visibility and eventually result will be increased SEO ranking.
7. Optimizing meta tags:
As soon as we finish the above-mentioned things, we move to the next step called META tag optimization or optimizing META tags to rank and get indexed by Google and other search engines.
